Born into a family of craftsmen, Fabien Y. Marcque has always seen design as an essential part of who he is. Originally from the Hauts-de-France region, he developed a passion early on for making things by hand. He went on to study Furniture Design and Interior Architecture at the École Supérieure d’Art et de Design (ESAD) in Reims, graduating in 2005.

Fabien began his career in Paris, working with design studios and agencies before moving on to independent projects for clients in the fashion and beauty industries. In 2011, he relocated to London, where he specialised in boutique and retail design for premium and luxury brands. The city’s creative energy and appreciation for craft left a lasting impression, broadening his perspective and strengthening his belief in the emotional power of design.

In 2017, a new chapter began when he moved to Brazil. Immersed in new materials, colours, and landscapes, Fabien found fresh inspiration that redefined his creative path. While exploring the Diamantina region—historically known for its diamond mines—he became fascinated by the natural stones scattered across the terrain: quartz, amethyst, and crystal formations shaped by time. This encounter opened up a new direction in his work and led him toward jewellery as a more personal and enduring form of expression.

When he returned to London, jewellery felt like a natural continuation of his design journey—a way to create objects that carry meaning, connection, and emotion. He sees jewellery as a form of architecture for the body: a way to build small-scale structures that hold both strength and sensitivity. Largely self-taught, Fabien refined his skills through workshops at K2 Jewellery Academy and Morley College in London from 2023 onwards.

His background in architecture remains central to his design language. You can see it in the geometric lines, the strong silhouettes, and the sculptural balance of his pieces. Inspired by brutalist forms, structural clarity, and the tension between solid and void, his jewellery often explores the idea of “inside and out”—the cocoon, the armour, the contrast between strength and fragility. His experience in spatial and retail design continues to inform the way he thinks about scale, proportion, and the dialogue between object and space. It’s about revealing what’s usually hidden, and finding beauty in both protection and exposure.

Today, Fabien works primarily with sterling silver and gold, often combined with natural stones and pigments. He enjoys experimenting with unconventional materials and finishes, creating delicate textures and vibrant surfaces that give each piece its own voice. Sustainability is simply part of his process: he works exclusively with recycled precious metals and carefully sourced materials. For him, it’s not a separate subject or statement, but an inherent part of how making should be done. The circular nature of jewellery—the way metal and stones can be melted, reused, and reborn endlessly—quietly echoes the continuity he seeks in his work.

Each piece is handcrafted with care and intention, blending architectural precision with emotional depth. Fabien’s jewellery is not only about form, but about feeling—about the stories we carry, the transformations we live through, and the beauty that comes from resilience. His work seeks to connect structure and emotion, the tangible and the timeless—creating pieces meant to be worn, cherished, and passed on through time.
